Angelina Jolie's Vietnamese Son

We already know that Angelina Jolie has adopted children from different countries.

  1. Maddox Chivan - name means "beneficient" - from Cambodia
  2. Zahara Marley - name means "flower" and after Bob Marley - from Ethiopia
  3. Shilih Nouvel - name means "the peaceful one" - born to Angelina
and the newest addition..

  • Pax Thien - name means "peace" and "sky" - from Vietnam
I think she is caring for these children. It may look like the United Colors of Benetton, but that's alright, I guess.
I wonder though on what country she will pick her next child from. Or should she and Brad just have a new one?

What Melody Does Your Heart Play?

As I've said, I watched "The Holdiay" again. I remembered asking myself, if I were a melody, what would I be.. This is the closest answers I could get. Some, I needed to take twice..

What Melody Does Your Heart Play?{Beautiful Anime Pictures}

Your heart plays with sounds of joy. You enjoy life, even when it has its downs, but you don't give in easily. When you're really happy, you find youself sometimes humming away with a melody you hear in your mind, but it always has an upbeat tune or its cheery-sounding. You have a wide range of friends and many different types of friends. Whether you have a few close friends or so very many, they all love you for your personality. You're either the happy, bubbly joyful one of your group of friends or possibly the comedian. Maybe even both. Whenever your friends have a problem, you're always there for them, and they simply adore you for that. And when you show even the slightest bit of sadness, they're there for you. You spread happiness and laughter whereever you go. Good for you!

What Melody Does Your Heart Play?{Beautiful Anime Pictures}

Your heart quivers with the haunting melodies of sadness. Something happened to you long ago that you never quite got over, or maybe you're going through something right now. You feel alienated from everyone, and don't believe that anyone could understand you or help you. Sometimes you just can't see the bright side to things and you watch all the happy people run past you. You wonder and try to figure out where everything screwed up for you and why you can't be like one of those happy people too. You either have a few close (and maybe the only true) friends or you feel like you have none at all. Whether that be true or not, you still need someone by your side. And whether or not you're ready to admit it, youre scared to be alone. You wish things were different. You either want things to get better, which at this rate its seems like it never will, or just end.

Spiderman 3 - Trailer

NBC releaseed a 7-minute trailer for Spiderman 3 and this is it!

Something to really look forward to. I'm really not a comic fan, thus, I really have no idea what's going on with the Black Spiderman and all. Maybe that's a good thing since I won't be expecting anything. Hmm.. It will be coming to theaters here in Manila, May 2007!

DST earlier and longer for 2007

Being a call center agent the Daylight Saving Time is sort of also observed. Our account supports 8am to 8pm EST. I'm on the opening shift, so before DST kicks in my shift starts 9pm and ends 6am. Even if it's just an hour, it's a big deal for me to wake up an hour earlier. I planned to practice going to work an hour earlier the week before the time change. Unfortunately I wasn't aware that DST would be earlier this year. We were advised with only three working days left!

Well, it has been about a week and thank God I haven't incurred any lates.

So, why was it earlier than expected?

On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete.

Waah! And I was also surprised that it's longer this time! Haay.. I'm still trying to look at the brighter side of things, that atleast I'm able go home earlier.

But this shift is the "no social life shift". And I'm starting to feel it. I'm really getting lonely.. Haaaay...

The Holiday

This movie was recommended by an officemate of mine. Honestly, I don't trust his taste. But when I saw that we have a copy of the movie here at home. What the heck..

And I loved it! I'll watch it again, one time this week before I sleep.

I love the main characters. Although, I'm don't like Jack Black that much, I'm starting to admire his talents and what he can do.

It started off looking like "Love Actually", which I thought the concept was.

"Unrequited Love". I almost said it together with Kate Winslet during the naration of the first part of the movie. Isn't that what love really, actually most of the time is?

Home exchange is a really interesting for me. I hope someday to be able to do it.

The Amanda-Graham love story was what really hooked me deeper into the movie. At first I thought I knew how it would turn out. And at the very scene I was about to say, "I told you so," surprise! Two cute surprises, actually, which made me still guess how it should all turn out.

The Iris-Miles thing looked like a little late but alright I guess. Their situation happens a lot though. Unrequited love. Haay.. I watched this after seeing "Music and Lyrics" and the scene where Miles plays the Iris-melody, is so sweet. Made me wonder, if I were a melody, what would it sound like? It should be somewhere near alternative. It just should be.

I like Amanda's job! Making movie trailers. I think, it's really cool.

I want to have the list Arthur gave Iris. Although, I don't think I would like "Chariots of Fire" as much.

Since I thought Jude Law's role on the movie was like his role in "Alfie". I was thinking, is there a movie that Jude Law played a sex maniac serial killer. I sure would want to see that.

I'm half-Amanda and half-Graham when it comes to crying. Tears well up on my eyes so fast, and also when I'm expected to cry I don't. I just recently observed this. It's very easy for me to cry, over movies, things, music.. But when it's an actual scene in my life, I can't cry a single tear. Is it because I have used up the tears for those types of moment in associating those moments with other things? I just don't want to cry that now, I can't.

I really like the voice over thing going on for Amanda's life and the short trailer like shots.

I'll be watching this again. That's for sure!

Amanda: You know Graham, I just broke up with someone and considering you just showed up and you're insanely good-looking and probably won't remember me anyway... I'm thinking we should have sex... If you want.
Graham: Is that a trick question?

Iris: Because you're hoping you're wrong. And every time she does something that tells you she's no good, you ignore it. And every time she comes through and suprises you, she wins you over, and you lose that argument with yourself, that she's not for you.
Miles: Exactly, and on top of that there's the old standby, I can't believe a girl like that would actually be with a guy like me.

Sophie: Daddy, she has more marshmallows than I do.
Graham: No she doesn't, you each have five.
[to Amanda]
Graham: You have five too.
Amanda: Thanks

Iris: I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved that man for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas', the worst Birthday's, New Years Eve's brought in by tears and valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I've been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back. Oh god, just the sight of him! Heart pounding! Throat thickening! Absolutely can't swallow! All the usual symptoms.

Arthur Abbott: Say a man and a woman both need something to sleep in and both go to the same men's pajama department. The man says to the salesman, "I just need bottoms," and the woman says, "I just need a top." They look at each other and that's the 'meet cute.'

Hannah: My god, I've just noticed how pathetic you are.
Iris: Really? I'm *so* aware of it.

Amanda: Sex makes everything more complicated. Even not having it because the not having it makes it complicated.

Amanda: I'm leaving in nine days and that makes this complicated.
Graham: Ok
[they then passionately kiss]

Olivia: Mr. NAPKINHEAD!

Music and Lyrics

I hate not being able to watch movies on the big screen. For that, I thank VCDs and DVDs. But I would really like to see this movie at the theater. Where was I?

I never thought Hugh Grant can sing. And I can't associate his singing voice with his speaking voice. Is it because of the accent?

Funny how I, most of the time when needed, was regarded as a lyricist. Well, it is easier to wreath the words together when there's melody already. I have always loved writing but I never really paid any attention to this, until after watching the movie. One thing though, I won't be pursuing this. I stopped writing poems when I just learned I can. And now, that I think I can write lyrics, I'd stop now. Hah! Talk about complicated me.

So much for that segue.

The movie made me think of Manila's 80's Has Beens. Hmm.. That would be for a different post.

I really like the "support" Sophie was giving Alex on one of his shows. I find the in-between-numbers-rush-to-the-backstage moment cute.

It's really heart breaking to have the past seem to happen all over again, when you already warned the present that this past made you feel awful. Haay.. opening up to someone is like handing a dagger to that person and offering your heart.

I think the song Alex made for Sophie on the concert was terrible. Hahaha! Adam Sandler could sure write a whole lot better, even with his "Forgetful Lucy".

I like Hugh Grant's equipment or gadgets when he was recording the song for the demo for Cora. High Tech! But still showed that he is indeed a musician.

It's very easy for someone with Hugh Grant's features and being a celebrity and all to break an ordinary girl's heart.

The ending was so sweet.. Instead of basking in fame and glory on the stage, he ran to the back stage and kissed her.

I now find writing songs to be awfully romantic. Haaay..

The Lake House

I did not watch this movie on the big screen because it was rumored to be very similar to GMA Films' Moments of Love, which I watched with my friends. Unfortunately, it was on a very bad timing that I think I slept during half of the time.

One of the things I love to have about love stories is the fact that they desperately try to make it seem real. So, when a love story is sort of a fantasy on the first note, I don't pay much attention.

The presentation on this one is so good, though.

I really loved the walk they had. And at the end of the walk.. the message on the wall. And I can't seem to find a picture of it anywhere. I like the handwriting used there. Well, ofcourse the thought of everything.

I just can't imagine how hard it seems to move on and let go of someone you're not really sure you had.

What I'm actually thinking right now is, how much faith they had for their love. That they would meet at the right time.

When should one let go and think and say and admit that it won't work, that the relationship won't work, that you can't see how. Why would people hold on if they don't see how it would all work out and turn out to be?

Well, Alex stayed and believed.. so, did Kate, even if she tried to go on with her life.

And as usual, this was a happy ending..

Just for the record, I really find Ebon Moss-Bachrach (who played Henry Wyler, Alex's brother) cute! He's not the drop dead gorgeous type, but he was sort of cute in this movie.

Sandra Bullock states that she felt compelled to name the dog "Jack" after the character of Keanu Reeves in Speed (1994/I) - the first movie the two of them made together.

Kate: Let me let you go.

Keeping Mum

I'm not really a Rowan Atkinson fan. I most of the time find him corny. So, when the rest of my family was watching the Rowan Atkinson Collection, I didn't pay much attention. But this particular movie made me.

I was not really watching on the onset of the movie. I don't like asking questions when I'm watching, but my mom and sister was already talking about their conclusions.

As the movie went on, I kept on saying, "Rowan Atkinson is on this film, is this not a comedy?" or "Is this comedy? I don't think thi is."

Well, in a way it still is comedy, but on a sort of serious note. I was thinking on how this would end.

I think Rowan Atkinson was perfect for the role. He was sort of made handsome here. I really liked his portrayal on this movie. It's like I can't think of anyone more suited for the role. He could really be a minister.

And in this movie I almost said outloud, "They made Professor McGonagall look old!" Hahaha! Well, I'm just to familiar with McGonagall but you will forget about her. Maggie Smith has a whole different character in this movie.

This would not really be on my favorites list, but this movie caught me by surprise. So, there!

someday, someone's gonna take your place

Someday
NINA

Someday you'll gonna realize
One day you'll see through my eyes
But then i won't even be there
I'll be happy somewhere
Even if i can't

I know
You dont really see my worth
You think your the last guy on earth
Well i've got news for you
I know i'm not that strong
But it won't take long
Won't take long

Chorus

Coz someday, someone's gonna love me
The way, i want you to need me
Someday, someone's gonna take your place
One day i'll forget about you
You'll see, i won't even miss you
Someday, someday

But now
I know you can't tell
I'm down,and i'm not down anyway
But one day these tears
They will all run dry
I won't have to cry
Sweet goodbye

Chorus

Coz someday, someone's gonna love me
The way, i want you to need me
Someday, someone's gonna take your place
One day i'll forget about you
You'll see, i won't even miss you
Someday, someday

where it all started

December 2002 when auditioned to be part of the Mapua Tekno Teatro. I joined not because of anything else, but simple because of my love for the art. I didn't expect to have close relationships with the people involved. My mind set was to just work hard for the productions and be a good asset to the organization, learn a lot about performing arts and be the best that I can be. But I got something so much more...

My first production with MT2 is "A Man Called, Jesus." It's a three-dimensional musical production. It's a play within a play within a play. I'm on the 2nd dimension. I play the role of an atheist director of a Christian play. It's very far from the sweet "Tessa" role I'm used to. Plus, it involves a lot of singing. Our director told me that the reason he casted me for the role is because of how I look. He liked the irony of things and the unpredictability of the character. I look so sweet and innocent to be smoking and saying bad words. This was staged at the Music Museum, March of 2003.

Here I met a wonderful set of individuals. We became a family.. The Pamilya Kampai. Then, my life was never the same again. Bwhahahahah!

They showed me the real me. What I'm really capable of doing and who I really am. I know I can live without these people in my life but I would not be this happy, fulfilled and jolly without them. They taught me the joy of laughter, the strength of friendship and the courage to walk through life's tight rope because you know you have a good safety net below. With them I can say the words, "no regrets".

"i love you, kampai"

can't sign in in Yahoo! Messenger

A couple of weeks ago I had the difficulty of signing in to Yahoo! Messenger. Whenever I enter my username and password it would act as signing in for about a minute then it would just go back to the sign in page. It reverts to that page without any error message showing up. So, it was not a username or password issue because it shouldgive me an error message of some sort. Well, something like "Invalid Username/Password".

So, I searched the internet for solutions. Unfortunately Yahoo!'s Help doesn't do much. It doesn't even have the right question for me. And the results that pull up are not even close to my query. So, I went out of the page. Then I sought the help of the trusted Google. Of course it would be impossible that I'm the only person having this trouble. The funny thing though is when my brother tried to sign in, it went through. So, I'm really baffled now. I ofcourse made sure it's not a communication error and all is well with my ISP, since I was able to view websites okay.

Then, I came accross one similar incident with someone in Yahoo! Answers. The solution that was presented there was pretty simple.

Uninstall Yahoo! Messenger completely and download a new set up and reinstall it.

There were following comments saying that this didn't work. But what the heck, it may not work for them, but it may work for me. So, I went ahead and uninstalled my messenger and downloaded a new set up and reinstall it.

Viola! I was able to log in fine now!

I tried to look for the page where I got the suggestion from to give the person some credit and thank him/her for the help. Unfortunately I'm not able to find the correct one anymore. So, to you, whoever you are, thanks!

You just need to eliminate the possible things that may cause this before doing the uninstall-reinstall thing.

  • Make sure you have a good connection. Try browsing websites and check how fast the pages load.
  • Be certain that you are not logged in on another PC's YM.
  • In this instance there are no error messages showing up.
  • Make sure your firewall can allows YM to access the internet.

No problems so far. Feel free to put in comments and i'll update this post if something will come up.

American Idol Season 6 Top 24

I missed the airing of the show. I was able to watch the whole episode though via You Tube. (American Idol 6-The 24 semi-finalist-episode 10)

AJ Tabaldo

He was not that remarkable for me during the onset of the competition. Well, I'm not sure if he was featured during his auditions since I wasn't able to watch all the previos episodes.

One remarkable thing though, is he's a Filipino. Once again the Filipino people would be glued to American Idol and watch what would happen next to this contestant. Good thing, a lot of Filipinos are in the United States, thus, they can actually vote for AJ. Seeing his name on the list, and having Tabaldo as his list name, I was almost a hundred percent sure that he has Filipino blood flowing through his veins.

I sure would watch out for this guy. I'm currently searching for clips featuring his singing capabilities. But if he's on the top 24, he's supposed to be good. He auditioned in LA, I'll be checking the LA Audition episode and look out for this guy. On this episonde though, he showed his unique style in singing.

He's not bad looking either. He just needs to keep the people impressed with his voice. Something Jose "Sway" Penala needed to have and do last season.

Well, if things won't work for AJ, he could go here in the Philippines and be famous!

Antonella Barba

Most of her exposures are featured. It's not hard to remember her face and I find her name very sweet. She got stuck to me as the "better best friend". She really has a good voice. I can still remember when Simon told her during her auditions that in this business, when somebody is down, you kick them. Well, she just shook her head in disapproval.
She's beautiful. Another reason why she's on the final 24.

I think she's talented too. Her voice impressed me during her auditions. She just had a terrible group performance, though. She really didn't do well in the Hollywood week. I was actually expecting that she won't get in because of how much she failed to remember her lyrics. Most probably the clips on the episode lead everyone to believe that she will be eliminated from the competition. Let's see how long she'll last.

Gina Glocksen

I'm not that enthralled by her voice, but she's like a rock star to me. She looks really cool with her tattoos and her style. I like what she did to her hair.

Character is really something they're looking for. Not just the voice. She seems to have a tendency to blend with the background though but the stage won't eat her. If you're looking for X-factor, I think she got it.

She's not the model pretty type, she doesn't even look like a movie star but she's not ugly or even someone you could say bad looking. She's just not the typical type of girl guys drool over. And that's not a disadvantage. As long as she keeps her character on the stage when she performs, she's on the right track.

Chris Sligh

He's sweet and funny. Quite a character. I think that's the reason why he's on the list.

He has a good voice of course. I'm not sure though if that would stand out until the end. He was on the best group during Hollywood week and I think he was the one singing the high pitch. He really has a good singing voice. His last song for Hollywood week is really special and sweet! Good style. I think he could make it all the way.

I think I've seen his audition, but I'm not really sure. I could've mistaken him for another plump guy.

It was really smart and funny of him to act as if he called for a meeting with the judges during the top 24 deliberation episode.I'm actually looking forward to his antics and videos. They could be really something funny and to watch for.

Paul Kim

His inspiration in joining the competition was William Hung. So, why is he on the list? Well, he wanted to retrieve the name of Asians when it comes to singing. He thinks that because of William, Asians or Chinese has been conotated as the worst singers. I feel bad for William Hung when he said that, but understanding where he's coming from it's not that bad of a thought to push yourself to do good. Plus it doesn't hurt if you really know they're wrong. He really has a good voice. I almost thought he's a Filipino too. But having Kim as his last name makes him a whole lot more Chinese or something.

He can't be on the list of my cute Chinese guys, but that's alright. He looks better than William Hung, which is a good sign.

I think he has already proven his point. What's next? Could he really be the next American Idol? Some Americans are still prejudicial when it comes to race.

Melinda Doolittle

Whenever I see her, I go "Hee-hee!" That's what her smile make me say.

She was very very shy during her auditions. But she was able to stand out and shine and be "proud" of her voice during Hollywood week, just in time to be part of the top 24.

She really has a wonderful voice and should be able take center stage. It's like a Mariah Carey story. Although, she's not a Mariah Carey bod.

She might even make it to the top 12 if her timidness won't get in the way. She's my bet for the best vocals.

Phil Stacey

This was the guy who went to the auditions on the day his wife was giving birth to their second child. And when Simon asked him, what he'll prioritize, his family or idol, he said his family. Even I was weirded out by the irony.

He's good looking though. It's just that stardom seem to get in his head already when you read his profile in the American Idol website. He seems to be flirting with Paula a lot too. But he still puts her wife on the pedestal though.

I have good vibes for this one, but it's on the negative side. Talk about irony! This guy seem to have a lot of it though.

Sundance Head

I'm not sure what Paula saw in this guy. Even Simon would agree with me during the Hollywood week on why he's still on the competition and Paula seems to be the only one who saw the potential in this guy.

Is he the last on the list? What I mean is, there are actually just 11 good guys this season and they just need to have 12. There are better guys, I think. Just like Antonella, the clips would lead you to think that he won't be the one left to stay to complete the list of twelce.

Is it because his dad is Roy Head and had a Gold Record? I don't even know who Roy Head is. Sorry. Maybe they're thinking that his genes came from a Gold Record holder, he's supposed to have the talent. But I don't think it's showing. Maybe he took after his mom. No offense meant there.

We'll see if people will be voting for this guy.

Honestly, I got hooked up to this whole American Idol mania just last season. Aside from the winners the only people I know from the previous years are Bo Bice and Jasmine Trias. I was very much updated last year, that I even watch replays. This year I only get to watch replays because of my job. And if I miss it I resort to the uploads in You Tube. Even if it's a bit late.

Simon is very sweet and funny this season. He showed a lot of his sense of humor this year. But still the typical Simon, you can still clasify him under rude. If I was a contestant though, I'd pay more attention to what Simon is saying. They're correct. It's just the way he puts it. You just need to squint your eyes and take his criticisms constructively. Most of the contestants could really use his advise to their advantage. And based on last year, most of the time America learned to listen on what Simon has to say.

And as always, Ryan Seacrest is soo cute!

I'll keep on watching the show of course and wait and see. Most probably my opinions would be wrong on certain contestants and there are others who got into the list that didn't catch much of my attention. I would still of course keep an eye on them.

unique sweet and cute gift ideas

Here are a couple of sweet and cute gift ideas for your special someone, whether it would be for Valentine's Day, Anniversary, or just for the heck of it. This list would no longer include the usual stuff, like flowers, perfume, chocolates and a Teddy. Some of these you may have already heard of, still they are good ideas.

Message in a Bottle

Select a good quality paper, a parchment paper perhaps. You can hand write your letter or the poem you made using a good pen on that paper. If you don't trust your handwriting you can just print one out using your PC. If you're not much of a writer, you can search for poems online or in poetry books. You can also put in your song. Just think of something sweet that can be put to words.

Now, choose a good clear bottle. You can buy one or you may have one sitting at the back of your house. Make sure to have it crystal clean and clear. A bottle of wine (or rum) you shared with that person would be a very good idea. Then, have a bottle stopper. You can buy them at wine shops, or you can use a cork. If that would sound too fancy for you, you may still use the original cap of the bottle; just paint it black or any other color that would cover the brand name.

Roll tight the letter you made. Make sure it would fit in the bottle's mouth. Secure the paper by tying a ribbon around it. Put it inside the bottle and there you go!

Name a Star

If you have seen "A Walk to Remember", this was the gift of Landon to Jamie when they went star gazing one night. It's actually possible. If you have the budget you can have star named after your loved one. You can even put adjectives together with the name, like "The Sweet Elizabeth Star" or " The Luscious Jake Star". Just Google "name a star after someone" and it will return a lot of links that would offer this service. The name would be recognized by the International Star Registry, although scientific institutions will continue to refer to the stars by their coordinates only. If you don't know which star to pick, because of the billion of stars to choose from, you can pick from available coordinates. You can have the special number combinations of your lives as the coordinates. It can be the recipient's birthday, your anniversary or the first day you met.

You will be receiving a certificate with the date of registration and the unique coordinates of the star. Some stores offer other items together with their package.

Since this could not be done locally, you would need to spend a little more than the Philippine peso could handle. But what the heck, seeing the smile on the person you love's face, priceless!

My Last Peso

This can be your last anything. This is a funny, sweet and cute gift, plus it can be cheap! If you'll remember the Fita Biscuit commercial before, with the famous line, "Last Fita q n 2!" (Hey! No actual Filipino word there!), the same concept applies. Isn't it sweet to know that a person will be giving you his/her last something, and knowing that that something has been saved, and has been very difficult for that person to consume himself/herself because it's his/her last piece, and he/she will be just giving it away… and of all people, to you!

This can be anything under the sun! If you both smoke, it can be your last stick of an expensive imported pack of cigarettes. That might be as simple as the last peso in your mobile's prepaid account. You could even put in the message that, 160 characters may not be enough, but you'd rather spend your last peso on her than wait for another chance to say… something cheesy… might be too much for me to take. If you use your imagination, it can be something you almost got for free, like the last ride for those who buy the Stored Value Card of MRT. If it's food or something that would spoil after sometime, you could do a replica of it then put on the pedestal. For candies or chocolates, you can take the wrapper and wrap it on something that won't spoil and can take the shape of the real one, clay would be good. Then, put in inside a glass casing and put an inscription at the bottom, like "My Last Chocnut."

Just explain why you're giving it, in the most creative and sweet way you can think of, so that, instead of being mad at you or insulted, he/she will just probably laugh because of the irony of things and would still find it sweet. You may also use cute packaging that would make it look priceless, which could still be true. Think of something that you both like or at least something that that person knows you really want and won't even make other people go near, and you can start from there.

The list and ideas could be endless. But the formula would still be the same. Start with how you really feel; think of the person you'll be giving it to; work on a budget or the lack of it; be creative; use your imagination; personalize the gift to show your sincerity and have fun!

When you think about it, it's really better to give than to receive, and whatever you may receive, what counts is the thought! *wink*

no vampires

We get up as the sun sets… And slumber at the break of dawn… and no, we're no vampires. We're call center agents.

Being half way around the globe from our customers, we would need to be available at the time they would need us the most. So, while our half of the world is sleeping, we're up and about tending to the people on the other half. Having forty winks they would not know what the night brings for us.

We would wake up to beautiful sunsets as the sky goes dark. Our alarm clocks would not be birds tweeting but bats squeaking or those reptiles that go "tuuu-kooo". Instead of hearing "taaa—hooo", we would hear, "balooot!"

It's a little pointless to watch the news, like the weather update since the weatherman would be showing what has already transpired. There's no announcement as to what would happen for the rest of the night, instead they would show what is likely to happen the next day, when we would already be in the safety of our homes sleeping.

Coffee would no longer be solely part of the "breakfast" menu, since this would be the one flowing through our veins on the latter parts of the evening, it would be our substitute to water as to make sure we're on our toes. Smokers would also have a pack of cigarettes secured in their bags or pockets before leaving the house, to be able to light a stick every chance they'd be able to get. Thus, the spread of the Nicotine-Caffeine Syndrome. Caution, don't try to surprise this type of people, you might end up doing CPR's than eating cake.

No matter how hot it was during the day, they'll each be bringing along a jacket with them. Having computers on the floor, which require a low temperature, we'd need to find our feet to its working condition. Every night is like a fashion show of the coat line of Ukay-Ukay. You'd see a wide range of collection, from the regular jackets, to trench coats, from shawls to ponchos and even from capes to blankets.

Previously mistaken for high-class hookers, we would strut the sidewalks of business centers during the dark hours of the day, late at night and on the wee hours of the morning. Who would've thought we have decent jobs? Well, wardrobe does contribute a lot, but even how decent you might dress up, the time you're on the streets would make grandmother's eyebrow rise.

Our lunch would be a heavy midnight snack for other nocturnes. But we are limited to the food our canteens would offer or the 24-hour convenience stores around. Lucky for those who are capable of preparing lunch, they're sure they're not eating the leftovers of the day.

After 9 hours of fighting the strong urge to curl up and sleep, it would be time to go home. In the morning, heavy traffic might be on hand, but we're going the other way and won't be late for anything. However, our friends and families would be the ones alive and kicking that we can't help but bond with them. After being tired of speaking, hearing and reading foreign language, it would be like a warm embrace to be able to speak your native tongue at last. A small price to pay though, we'd have the tendency to stay up late. Huh?! Stay up late? At daytime? How confusing!

With the sun blaring, we have our own tactics on how to fall asleep. Sometimes, being tired would not be enough; our body clocks have a faulty "snooze" button. Wearing dark glasses is the first aid, but usually these glasses would work too well, and when you wake up, you'd have a can of coins beside you.

So, most of us resort to alcohol drinking. Don't mistake us for those you see in the street corners. We'd still have our shirts on. It's much easier to fall asleep if you're already drowsy. You would no longer mind the radiant sunshine. In the case you'd want to drink in the middle of the day or early in the morning, look for the call center agents going out from their shift, they'd be glad to share the toast.

Working during the nighttime required us to adjust to almost a whole new world. We don't have sleepless nights, we have sleepless days, because we don't sleep at night, we sleep during the day, but again, no, we're no vampires.
