the unborn slumdog millionaire

last week i was able to get to see these movies.. (as to where and how, some people would know but there are also some people i don't want to tell Ü)

¤ slumdog millionaire ¤

since it won best picture in oscar's i was nothing but curious. when the movie started, i said, "astig!" as the story line came to life. and as the movie went on.. i kept on saying that word.. and when i thought i knew how the story would end, it proved me wrong! so, all in all it really was a good movie and deserved winning the award. but it did not made me curious to see the other nominees. maybe because i don't really know what those movies are. or maybe the thought that they're losers, so, i don't think it would be any good. hahahahah!

trivia

  • The actor whose autograph young Jamal gets is Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan is a very real, and very famous Indian actor, the original host of the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire", and also the father-in-law of Aishwarya Rai (or Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan as she is known after marriage).
  • Director Danny Boyle placed the money to be paid to the 3 lead child actors in a trust that is to be released to them upon their completion of grade school at 16 years of age. The production company has set up for an auto-rikshaw driver to take the kids to school everyday until they are 16 years old.
  • In the opening chase scene where Jamal and Salim jump down from a building to the ground is an reference to Danny Boyle's Trainspotting (1996) in which the main character Renton jumps down into the frame at a drug dealers to eventually overdose on heroin.
  • The current exchange rate for 20,000,000 Rupees (the grand prize on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire") is USD$411,600.
  • Approximately 20% of the movie's dialog is in Hindi (with English subtitles).
  • The second Danny Boyle film to feature a protagonist diving into a toilet, after Trainspotting (1996).
  • The pile of excreta that the young Jamal jumps into and was made from a combination of peanut butter and chocolate.
  • This movie almost was released straight to DVD instead of getting a theatrical release.
  • In the scene early in the film where Maman approaches Jamal and Salim to give them a cool drink, the 'Thumbs Up' branding (the Indian version of Coca Cola) had to be removed on the request of the manufacturers who did not want to be associated with the film.
  • Ruslaan Mumtaz was selected by director Danny Boyle to play the role of Jamal, however the producer of the film felt he was "too good looking" to play a kid from the slums. Hence, Dev Patel bagged the role.
  • This is the first film since Schindler's List (1993) to win Best Picture, Director and Screenplay at the Golden Globes, BAFTAs and the Oscars
  • Longiness Fernandes was the choreographer of the dance sequence set to the song "Jai Ho", which is played during the end credits. But his name was inadvertently left out in the credits of the film. Upset with this, Longinus skipped the preview parties. Danny Boyle was also upset over this mistake and promised Lnginus that he would make it up to him, and made he up in style. While accepting the Oscar for the Best Director, he admitted his mistake before the audience and thanked Longinus. The song "Jai Ho" also won the Oscar for Best Song for A.R. Rahman and Gulzar.
  • The children on the film were only paid a little above local wages for 30 days of work. One child's father said, "We have barely got any money from the film-makers. In fact, whatever came, has already been spent."
  • The film is based upon Vikas Swarup's novel "Q & A".

I loved "trainspotting" a lot.. and it's cool to know that it was a film by the same director. i might check out his other films. Ü

goofs

Plot holes: The original TV show "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" is recorded in studio some days before the actual broadcast. The show that we see in the film is broadcast live, which raises the incongruence that the person from home can easily see the question on TV having plenty of time to come up with an answer before receiving the actual call. this explains the need to have the questions reread on the phone, and the credibility of the time limit. Moreover, the call itself is never directed to a mobile number, to prevent connection troubles, and for the same reason it's never issued directly when the contestant asks for it; the call is first made in the very moment the contestant begins his round and it's then kept live (but soundless) until the contestant calls for the hotline. As a side fact, after the hotline has been used the contact is still kept so the contestant's people can hear live what happens from then on.

Factual errors: In the final question the name of Alexandre Dumas in incorrectly spelled Alexander.

Errors made by characters (possibly deliberate errors by the filmmakers): in the hotel scene, after the fight, Salim puts the gun to Jamal's head. Salim says that the gun he is using is a Colt 45. A Colt 45 is a handgun, but Salim's gun is a revolver.

Boom mic visible: In the room where Latika is dancing, when Jamal and Salim come to free her and Maman shows up with his tough guys, a boom mike operator can be seen in the mirror in several shots.

Factual errors: SPOILER: In the beginning of the film it says it takes place in 2006. But when Jamal wins the show, the check says 2005.

¤ the unborn ¤

it has been a long time since i was able to see a movie that really scared the shit out of me. i don't want to look up facts about the movie because it still haunts me. maybe some other day. or i would just read it but would not post it here.

i get scared of horror movies that have some truth in it. something that's plausible. and i think the story or the concept behind the movie is.

i was screaming on top of my lungs during a lot of instances and yes, i was not ashamed! because, i sure hell was scared! waaaaaaah!

a very good scary movie.. because it did scare me.. Ü

Trivia:
  • Was ranked number 10 on the British Film Institute's all time best British films.
  • Although it looks thoroughly offputting, the faeces in the Worst Toilet in Scotland scene was actually made from chocolate and smelled quite pleasant.
  • The whole film was shot in just seven and a half weeks.
  • For the close-up shots of Ewan McGregor injecting himself with heroin, a prosthetic arm was constructed by the make-up department, complete with pulsing veins, smack tracks and small pockets of blood that would appear when the skin was punctured by a hypodermic needle.

Ben Stone: [explaining the conception to their newborn baby] and then your Mommy said, "Just do it already!" which was very confusing to Daddy, so I took the most literal translation.

Taglines

Based on the terrifying story by Stephen King

The Dolphin Hotel invites you to stay in any of its stunning rooms. Except one.

No one lasts more than an hour.

Enjoy your stay.

Don't stay in 1408.

The only demons in room 1408 are those within you.

The classic thriller we've all been waiting for!

Trivia

There are many references to the number "13" throughout the movie. The room is numbered "1408", add each number together equals 13. The room is on the 14th floor, and the Hotel skips the 13th floor, so the room is technically on the 13th floor. The room's key lock also has "6214" etched into it, which adds up to 13. And the first death was in the year 1912, which adds to 13.

In addition to the previous numbers adding up to 13, the hotel is mentioned to be at 2254 Lexington Street in New York City. 2254 adds up to 13.

Trivia

The title "10 Things I Hate About You" sounds remotely like "Taming Of The Shrew" (on which this film is based).

Several names reflect the Shakespearean origin of the story. Bianca's and Kat's last name is Stratford (William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon). Patrick's last name is Verona (birthplace of Petruchio, the corresponding character from the play). The high school is called Padua, which is the city in which the play is set.

Julia Stiles originally auditioned for the role of Bianca Stratford.

Michael says, "Sweet love, renew thy force," which is a line from Shakespeare's Sonnet 56.

Cameron says, "I burn, I pine, I perish," a direct quote from Taming of The Shrew.

One of the taglines for this movie is "How do I loathe thee? Let me count the ways" which is an obvious play on "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." Although this movie contains multiple references to William Shakespeare and "The Taming of the Shrew", the line "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways" was written not by Shakespeare, but by Elizabeth Barrett Browning. It is the first line of Sonnet 43 from Barrett Browning's "Sonnets from the Portuguese"

The marching band in the sequence where Heath Ledger sings to Julia Stiles had actually never marched before. They had to be taught for the purposes of the movie.

The original script was much darker to the one in the final film. In the original, Mandella (Kat's best friend) referred openly and frequently to several suicide attempts, which were for her to join with William Shakespeare.

Kat Straford is excited she got into Sarah Lawrence College. In reality, Larisa Oleynik who played Bianca Stratford really went to Sarah Lawrence College.

The song lyric "cruel to be kind" is a reference to a line from the play Hamlet; another of William Shakespeare's works.

The original song scripted for Patrick to sing to Kat to gain her forgiveness was "I Think I Love You" by 'the Partridge Family'.

Quotes

I hate the way you talk to me, and the way you cut your hair. I hate the way you drive my car. I hate it when you stare. I hate your big dumb combat boots, and the way you read my mind. I hate you so much it makes me sick; it even makes me rhyme. I hate it, I hate the way you're always right. I hate it when you lie. I hate it when you make me laugh, even worse when you make me cry. I hate it when you're not around, and the fact that you didn't call. But mostly I hate the way I don't hate you. Not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all.

this is my ever favorite, as well as everyone, i think. you can find more here. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0147800/quotes

-= hitch =-

The cure for the common man.

Trivias

The mobile phone that Hitch uses to talk to Sara when Albert is getting his back waxed is a Sony Ericsson P900.

Will Smith suggested Kevin James for the role of Albert, being a fan of James' hit series "The King of Queens" (1998).

Jennifer Lopez turned down the role of Sara Melas.

The movie that Sara is watching in her apartment is Jerry Maguire (1996).

The original title of the script was "The Last First Kiss".

Kevin James made up all of the dance moves for the scene where Albert is dancing in Hitch's apartment.

Allegra Coleman was a fictitious actress created by Esquire magazine in their Nov '96 issue, designed to spoof other magazine's fawning obsession with new stars. The article written about her new "It Girl" status prompted calls from studios and talent scouts eager to offer her scripts. Ali Larter provided the face and body shots for the faux starlet.

i'm surprised to have liked this movie. i actually did not want to watch this during the time it was showing here because i'm not really a will smith fan. and again, i needed to stop myself from crying because boris was teasing me.

chapter one

again, i have been meaning to write, but work and my emotions stood in the way.. so here. i had this mental rule that i had to post just one per day.. or at the most three. but there are a lot of thoughts going on in my mind lately and i wanted to put them all in writing. so, this entry (and the succeeding ones) will be segmented to my thoughts. hahaha!

-= the dreaded day =-

and it once again came to pass.. and i can't seem to remember anything significant. oh! i went home.. at long last. and of course i received a lot of text messages greeting or wishing me a happy birthday. i didn't count this year. one of my crushes greeted me, or at least extended his greeting through someone else, and he did not respond when i said, "thanks po!"

at home, i have found a lot of changes. my brothers are fatter than i last saw them. my sister was kind of the same. i hate to admit it but she seemed a little taller. we had carbonara, there was ice cream and cake. but i found out one bad thing that makes me sad until this moment. my laptop is not working! it doesn't power on. it just blinks when you recharge the battery, but not its usual blink. i don't remember it blinking when i recharge it before. my brother used the battery of his laptop with mine and said the same thing still happened so, it seemed that it's not the battery. was it because i haven't been using it for a very very long time? it's just about 10 months since i got it. haaay.. so, there's like less reason for me to go back home any time soon.

it seemed that i have celebrated before the actual date. specially the days when i still have money to spend to celebrate. like my day out with mnf. it was a blast and i really enjoyed that day. a lot. how i wish it was my birthday back then, but it's not.

-= wall-e =-

haaay.. another movie that made me cry. i watched this with mnf and we both cried. hahahah! and i can't seem to get over it until this moment. and maybe i won't for a long time. maybe even after i see another movie that would again make me cry. maybe if and when my IM name changes it would mean i am sort of or kind of over it.

i can't tell more about my favorite parts without being in tears again. haaay..

-= my hair =-

okay, i haven't done anything about my hair yet, but i sure plan to. and i saw the perfect hair-do that i would really want. i was again with mnf and we saw the 2008 emmy awards and saw brooke shields' do and i love it. i just hope the hair dressers would be able to get it.

-= delete =-

i guess, i just can't do it easily. i can't just stop. i need to stop myself. by sort of removing her from my life. yes, it's supposed to be easy since she's so far away and it's not as if she's making a way to be part of my life again, but somehow, someway, she still manages to come across my mind and bother me. mnf said this is normal. and i'm still not that much of a loser. it's okay, it's normal. eventually, all would be well. yes, maybe it would take a year, like stitch did. well, it took stitch more than a year and we were together again. it's just that king kong happened and the bitches, that's why it was sort of easy. well, now, i don't have anyone, for real, but i do have mnf and the gang and of course my job.

maybe what's really bothering me is the fact that there were words said, words that are almost promises. words that at this point are just the right things to say but as i realize now, are just shallow and nothing.

i really have to let go. i don't need to hurt anyone in the process because i'd take the punch. no more false hopes, no more what if's, no more "have i done everything?" because i know i did and i'd just get hurt if i'd go on trying.

i'm sorry for making a viscious cycle, but you didn't give me a reason to stop. and maybe you did, but then you didn't give me the chance to stop it.

maybe i wouldn't be really able to answer whenever they ask why. maybe i would just let them think what they want to think about. i guess, i would no longer care if they would blame you or me. i don't want to say, "it just didn't work out," because you never worked for it, i did.

bitterness? now, the meaning seems blurred to me. maybe. but also, maybe i'm entitled to it.

i'm known for being pessimistic and i don't need more facts to feed my pessimism. i'm back to building walls, crying underneath the laughter, and somehow wishing and hoping that someday i'll be numb from all these.

crazy wakka said, everyone desserves to be happy. and maybe i do. mnf wants me to be happy. all i need is to love and be loved.

-= gifts =-

i'm really grateful that there are still people who remembered my birthday. even if i wanted to forget it myself. thank you to those who gave me gifts. i was like a kid when i received them. i'm excited to finish the book i'm currently reading so i can start reading the bob ong books from mama bear. i was so proud to receive a tumbler from the captain. and i was really giddy and all. even if i won't be able to put coffee, or anything hot in it, it's okay. at least, i was able to put the one i was using in the locker for good. so, i'm really grateful. thanks!

-= cam =-

they're all just jokes. people to make me smile and make my heart skip a beat.

C. is for computer jester. bwahahahahahahahah! well, it was actually a long time ago. something i didn't really pursue because of bliss and some other turn offs and i was sort of afraid. but now, since bliss is gone, actually, so is he, a few "hehehe" and "adik" moments from him doesn't hurt.

A. is for experiment 280 cross with experiment 576. bwahahahahaha! mnf used to like him but he has this flaw. which still holds me back. i found one reason to believe mnf, and i'm looking for two more. i need something that he would show me, personally. not something i would analyze and think of. like the first reason he gave me. but i seem to have countless reasons to prove otherwise. i don't want another stitch. because stitch is stitch. and i would want him to accept who he really is.

M. is for oogway. :) he was the first breath of fresh air. and it may seem that nothing really followed, everyday seemed to be easier. i know there's nothing more to this. for all of them actually. but sometimes it doesn't hurt to smile.

there's really nothing much i can do here. maybe because i'm a girl. the answer maybe none of the above, but now, they help me get through the day.

-= good bye, king kong =-

he's leaving. i don't want to ask why. i don't want to ask where he's going. it's his last week. i guess i would forget. he said that i did. actually his words were, "ikaw lang naman ang nakalimot satin eh." i needed to. because of bliss. and even if that's over, i don't want to go back. i never get to write the letter i meant to write for him, even if just for here. i guess that's alright. i would just want him to be happy and be faithful and contented. maybe he is now. and i'm really happy for him. thank you for all the memories. they may be forgotten, but they were surely cherished. even for just a time.

-= on my own =-

song of my life

And now I'm all alone again,

No where to turn, no one to go to

Without a hope, without a friend, Without a face to say hello to

but now the night is near,

and I can make believe he's here.

Sometimes I walk alone at night

When everybody else is sleeping

I think of him and then I'm happy

With the company I'm keeping

The city goes to bed

And I can live inside my head.

On my own

Pretending he's beside me

All alone, I walk with him till morning

Without him

I feel his arms around me

And when I lose my way I close my eyes

And he has found me

In the rain the pavement shines like silver

All the lights are misty in the river

In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight

And all I see is him and me for ever and forever

And I know it's only in my mind

That I'm talking to myself and not to him

And although I know that he is blind

Still I say, there's a way for us

I love him

But when the night is over

He is gone, the river's just a river

Without him the world around me changes

The trees are bare and everywhere

The streets are full of strangers

I love him

But every day I'm learning

All my life I've only been pretending

Without me his world will go on turning

A world that's full of happiness

That I have never known!

I love him

I love him

I love him

But only on my own.

Paano Kita Iibigin - Full Trailer

Last Sunday I was able to catch the full trailer of the much awaited movie here in the Philippines. The team up of Regine Velasquez and Piolo Pascual.
As I watch the trailer, it's not as typical as I thought it would be.. and I actually appreciate its difference.
I really like it when things are not running smoothly or it's not all happy.
As much as the trailer would show, I really loved Piolo's lines. When Regine asked if he already loves her, he said, "I'm getting there." And when things get rough and Regine asks for confirmation or assurance of his love, he said, "I never got there." Winner!!
I would really love to see this movie. It has been a long time since I anticipated a Filipino movie. I can't even remember the last one.
This would be showing on theaters on May 30. I hope I would get to see this with my special someone.. hehehehe!

but it's book 7 i can hardly wait more!

WARNING: May Cause Toe-Tapping.

Gloria: [to Mumble's unhatched egg] Is it empty? Can I have it?

I watched this movie with my boyfriend. I wanted him to see this because he's a really good dancer.

I was surprised to see that this was more than just a cutesy animal love story movie.. it has something to do with the environment and has human interaction.

I'm not a fan of animation that the main characters are animals and then humans interfere, or something like that. But for this one, it was alright.

Robin Williams is soo talented that he voiced two different characters in this movie.

I don't know but I wasn't able to recognize Nicole Kidman in Norma Jean's voice!

Ramon and the gang was sooo cute..

very late review for zsazsa zaturnnah

This post is indeed over due. I almost thought of not even posting about ZsaZsa Zaturnnah, but I just can't help it!

I have been captivated by Carlo Vergara's creation since I first saw the comic book. My friend showed me one. They are already talking about the upcoming auditons for the musical! I started reading a few pages, and there! I didn't stop laughing to the point that I was about to be late for my class. I got so curious that I really had to finish reading it. I think I read it twice from cover to cover up to the smallest imprints! Heheheh! I got addicted!

Then, we get to watch Ze Muzikal! The 1st staging!

  • Eula Valdes was a very wonderful surprise! They say this is her first musical, but it didn't really show.
  • Tuxqs Rutaquio really looked like Ada in the comics. He can, as should be, sing very well.
  • I loved Ricci Chan! I have seen him guesting on tv shows prior to this one, and I really noticed that it seem he fattened himself to get the role! He made himself look like Didi in the comic book! And it worked wonders! He has phenomenal talent! Great acting, superb singing and perfect timing to throw in his punch lines. It's just really sad when eventually he no longer joined the cast after the 2nd staging. I didn't get to watch Joey Paras, who reprised the role of Didi, perform. They said he's good. But when I saw him, Ricci Chan is still the best humanization of Didi. I'm still wondering up to this moment why he left the stage and the role. Is it because of his prime time soap opera? I hope not. It's just for me, if I were to choose, I'd rather be ON stage than in front of the camera. So, why Ricci?! WHY?!?
  • Dodong was so cute and charming. Heheheh!
  • I didn't get to see Agot play Queen Femina but Kalila Aguilos was soo good!
  • I'm a fan of Wilma Doesn't and I really loved her here! I hope she enjoys theater as much as I do..
I'm not the number one fan. I don't really know who is, but my friend is sooo addicted to this that he personally contacted Vincent de Jesus to get a copy of the play's original score! And after a week or two, almost everyone has been singing the songs!!

  • "Multo ng Nakaraan" had me in tears..
  • "Walang Ibang Pangarap Kundi Sya" became our national anthem! Hahahaha!
  • "Nakikita Ko Na Ang Nakakasilaw Na Ilaw" made me laugh and cry at the same time!!!
I enjoyed every scene! Even the announcement of the 10-minute break was so cute! Haahahah! I understood that perfectly well.. Hmmm...

Then came Ze Movee..

One good thing I could think of about this movie, is how they changed what the aliens were doing to the world. I don't think moviegoers would be able to understand why ZsaZsa Zaturnnah should fight them if they would still go with what was on the comic book.

For the rest though, I hated it..

Rustom Padilla was too gay for Ada's role. His speaking voice was sooo high! And the funny part is, Alfred Vargas' was even higher!! Bwahahahahahaha!

They took out Didi's songs!! I love those songs! It was as if Chokoleit doesn't know how to sing. But he performs in bars, right? So, why not make him sing?

Haay... I was nothing but disappointed.

Zsazsa Zaturnnah started on a very good medium. Creative and unique. It went on a high when it became a musical. The stage gave class and glitter. And it plopped down to something unentertainingly funny movie. I really hate cameras. (movies and tv)

I still love ZsaZsa Zaturnnah though. I'm just very lucky to witness its glamour!

Pirates Of The Caribbean: At World's End - Official Trailer

At last, the official trailer has been released! I've been waiting for this! I can't wait to see the movie. Johnny Depp continues to fascinate me and Orlando Bloom just make me weak in the knees.

Everything is so fascinating. I really don't know how the story will turn out.

One thing to watch out for is Chow Yun-Fat's participation. I'm expecting to see good fight scenes. But a wonderful story and the cool effects already took my breath away!

Here are cute early facts:

Simply can't wait!

17 March 2007

Spiderman 3 - Trailer

NBC releaseed a 7-minute trailer for Spiderman 3 and this is it!

Something to really look forward to. I'm really not a comic fan, thus, I really have no idea what's going on with the Black Spiderman and all. Maybe that's a good thing since I won't be expecting anything. Hmm.. It will be coming to theaters here in Manila, May 2007!

15 March 2007

The Holiday

This movie was recommended by an officemate of mine. Honestly, I don't trust his taste. But when I saw that we have a copy of the movie here at home. What the heck..

And I loved it! I'll watch it again, one time this week before I sleep.

I love the main characters. Although, I'm don't like Jack Black that much, I'm starting to admire his talents and what he can do.

It started off looking like "Love Actually", which I thought the concept was.

"Unrequited Love". I almost said it together with Kate Winslet during the naration of the first part of the movie. Isn't that what love really, actually most of the time is?

Home exchange is a really interesting for me. I hope someday to be able to do it.

The Amanda-Graham love story was what really hooked me deeper into the movie. At first I thought I knew how it would turn out. And at the very scene I was about to say, "I told you so," surprise! Two cute surprises, actually, which made me still guess how it should all turn out.

The Iris-Miles thing looked like a little late but alright I guess. Their situation happens a lot though. Unrequited love. Haay.. I watched this after seeing "Music and Lyrics" and the scene where Miles plays the Iris-melody, is so sweet. Made me wonder, if I were a melody, what would it sound like? It should be somewhere near alternative. It just should be.

I like Amanda's job! Making movie trailers. I think, it's really cool.

I want to have the list Arthur gave Iris. Although, I don't think I would like "Chariots of Fire" as much.

Since I thought Jude Law's role on the movie was like his role in "Alfie". I was thinking, is there a movie that Jude Law played a sex maniac serial killer. I sure would want to see that.

I'm half-Amanda and half-Graham when it comes to crying. Tears well up on my eyes so fast, and also when I'm expected to cry I don't. I just recently observed this. It's very easy for me to cry, over movies, things, music.. But when it's an actual scene in my life, I can't cry a single tear. Is it because I have used up the tears for those types of moment in associating those moments with other things? I just don't want to cry that now, I can't.

I really like the voice over thing going on for Amanda's life and the short trailer like shots.

I'll be watching this again. That's for sure!

Amanda: You know Graham, I just broke up with someone and considering you just showed up and you're insanely good-looking and probably won't remember me anyway... I'm thinking we should have sex... If you want.
Graham: Is that a trick question?

Iris: Because you're hoping you're wrong. And every time she does something that tells you she's no good, you ignore it. And every time she comes through and suprises you, she wins you over, and you lose that argument with yourself, that she's not for you.
Miles: Exactly, and on top of that there's the old standby, I can't believe a girl like that would actually be with a guy like me.

Sophie: Daddy, she has more marshmallows than I do.
Graham: No she doesn't, you each have five.
[to Amanda]
Graham: You have five too.
Amanda: Thanks

Iris: I've found almost everything ever written about love to be true. Shakespeare said "Journeys end in lovers meeting." What an extraordinary thought. Personally, I have not experienced anything remotely close to that, but I am more than willing to believe Shakespeare had. I suppose I think about love more than anyone really should. I am constantly amazed by its sheer power to alter and define our lives. It was Shakespeare who also said "love is blind". Now that is something I know to be true. For some quite inexplicably, love fades; for others love is simply lost. But then of course love can also be found, even if just for the night. And then, there's another kind of love: the cruelest kind. The one that almost kills its victims. Its called unrequited love. Of that I am an expert. Most love stories are about people who fall in love with each other. But what about the rest of us? What about our stories, those of us who fall in love alone? We are the victims of the one sided affair. We are the cursed of the loved ones. We are the unloved ones, the walking wounded. The handicapped without the advantage of a great parking space! Yes, you are looking at one such individual. And I have willingly loved that man for over three miserable years! The absolute worst years of my life! The worst Christmas', the worst Birthday's, New Years Eve's brought in by tears and valium. These years that I have been in love have been the darkest days of my life. All because I've been cursed by being in love with a man who does not and will not love me back. Oh god, just the sight of him! Heart pounding! Throat thickening! Absolutely can't swallow! All the usual symptoms.

Arthur Abbott: Say a man and a woman both need something to sleep in and both go to the same men's pajama department. The man says to the salesman, "I just need bottoms," and the woman says, "I just need a top." They look at each other and that's the 'meet cute.'

Hannah: My god, I've just noticed how pathetic you are.
Iris: Really? I'm *so* aware of it.

Amanda: Sex makes everything more complicated. Even not having it because the not having it makes it complicated.

Amanda: I'm leaving in nine days and that makes this complicated.
Graham: Ok
[they then passionately kiss]

Olivia: Mr. NAPKINHEAD!

Music and Lyrics

I hate not being able to watch movies on the big screen. For that, I thank VCDs and DVDs. But I would really like to see this movie at the theater. Where was I?

I never thought Hugh Grant can sing. And I can't associate his singing voice with his speaking voice. Is it because of the accent?

Funny how I, most of the time when needed, was regarded as a lyricist. Well, it is easier to wreath the words together when there's melody already. I have always loved writing but I never really paid any attention to this, until after watching the movie. One thing though, I won't be pursuing this. I stopped writing poems when I just learned I can. And now, that I think I can write lyrics, I'd stop now. Hah! Talk about complicated me.

So much for that segue.

The movie made me think of Manila's 80's Has Beens. Hmm.. That would be for a different post.

I really like the "support" Sophie was giving Alex on one of his shows. I find the in-between-numbers-rush-to-the-backstage moment cute.

It's really heart breaking to have the past seem to happen all over again, when you already warned the present that this past made you feel awful. Haay.. opening up to someone is like handing a dagger to that person and offering your heart.

I think the song Alex made for Sophie on the concert was terrible. Hahaha! Adam Sandler could sure write a whole lot better, even with his "Forgetful Lucy".

I like Hugh Grant's equipment or gadgets when he was recording the song for the demo for Cora. High Tech! But still showed that he is indeed a musician.

It's very easy for someone with Hugh Grant's features and being a celebrity and all to break an ordinary girl's heart.

The ending was so sweet.. Instead of basking in fame and glory on the stage, he ran to the back stage and kissed her.

I now find writing songs to be awfully romantic. Haaay..

The Lake House

I did not watch this movie on the big screen because it was rumored to be very similar to GMA Films' Moments of Love, which I watched with my friends. Unfortunately, it was on a very bad timing that I think I slept during half of the time.

One of the things I love to have about love stories is the fact that they desperately try to make it seem real. So, when a love story is sort of a fantasy on the first note, I don't pay much attention.

The presentation on this one is so good, though.

I really loved the walk they had. And at the end of the walk.. the message on the wall. And I can't seem to find a picture of it anywhere. I like the handwriting used there. Well, ofcourse the thought of everything.

I just can't imagine how hard it seems to move on and let go of someone you're not really sure you had.

What I'm actually thinking right now is, how much faith they had for their love. That they would meet at the right time.

When should one let go and think and say and admit that it won't work, that the relationship won't work, that you can't see how. Why would people hold on if they don't see how it would all work out and turn out to be?

Well, Alex stayed and believed.. so, did Kate, even if she tried to go on with her life.

And as usual, this was a happy ending..

Just for the record, I really find Ebon Moss-Bachrach (who played Henry Wyler, Alex's brother) cute! He's not the drop dead gorgeous type, but he was sort of cute in this movie.

Sandra Bullock states that she felt compelled to name the dog "Jack" after the character of Keanu Reeves in Speed (1994/I) - the first movie the two of them made together.

Kate: Let me let you go.

Keeping Mum

I'm not really a Rowan Atkinson fan. I most of the time find him corny. So, when the rest of my family was watching the Rowan Atkinson Collection, I didn't pay much attention. But this particular movie made me.

I was not really watching on the onset of the movie. I don't like asking questions when I'm watching, but my mom and sister was already talking about their conclusions.

As the movie went on, I kept on saying, "Rowan Atkinson is on this film, is this not a comedy?" or "Is this comedy? I don't think thi is."

Well, in a way it still is comedy, but on a sort of serious note. I was thinking on how this would end.

I think Rowan Atkinson was perfect for the role. He was sort of made handsome here. I really liked his portrayal on this movie. It's like I can't think of anyone more suited for the role. He could really be a minister.

And in this movie I almost said outloud, "They made Professor McGonagall look old!" Hahaha! Well, I'm just to familiar with McGonagall but you will forget about her. Maggie Smith has a whole different character in this movie.

This would not really be on my favorites list, but this movie caught me by surprise. So, there!

movie trivia: dead man's chest

  • The gigantic wheel weighed at 1800 pounds standing at 18 feet tall.
  • Bill Nighy performed most of his role as Davy Jones in motion capture suit, later to be created entirely with CGI
  • First film to feature Disney's new logo, a computer-generated model of the Magic Kingdom, replacing the blue and white silhouette.
  • The game that Will Turner plays with Davy Jones with the dice is called Liar's Dice, a gambling game where each player has to make consecutively higher bids based upon how many of each die they claim are on the table (two threes, four fives, etc), until a player is called a liar, in which case all the dice are shown and it's seen if the bid is correct.
  • At $132 million dollars domestically in its opening weekend, this movie smashed the previously believed "unbreakable" record of $114.8 million dollars that Spider-Man held. It is the biggest weekend opener of all time.

I reall can't get over this movie.. Really is comparable to Empire Strikes Back...

I cried.. I believe twice.. When Will's dad was to whip him and when Jack died.. woohoo! what a spoiler! heheheh!

I loved the fight scenes.. specially with the wheel.

After the movie, people were clapping their hands and basically everyone let out a sigh of aggravation! waaah! a real cliff hanger, but you would not mind the time and feel that there's another installment. You'll be really caught unaware..

Loved the movie!

Before watching I told my friend that I missed Johnny Depp, then he said, he misses Orlando Bloom, I told him, I don't miss Orlando, he always goes to our place, that's why.. heheheheh!

aaawww.. i can't help but think of the person whom i really associate the face of orlando bloom with.. haaay.. but that's okay. a good feeling actually.
