wala nang bagsakan, wala na po si kiko

after coming from the closing shift.. i went to have breakfast with the other residents of sykes village and watched a few shows on TV and went home. it would have been late if i came from the opening shift. and i was thinking of being on the opening shift later that night. i wanted to sleep but being in the last shift made me feel like i was still supposed to be up. so, with the television on and one of my housemates there i stayed up.

then, my favorite afternoon variety show started. i was surprised that a regular segment was cut and the hosts said that they would pause for a break. the commercials took longer than usual. then, when the show came back, the hosts were all on stage and the main host was in the middle holding the microphone. all of them had gloomy faces. then, my housemate said, "oh my God! si Francis M." then, there.. they announced the death of a great artist.

i had goosebumps all over me and tears were about to well out.

he had cancer for quite some time now, but i didn't know it was that bad.

i had to text my contacts and spread the news.

i may not really be an avid fan, but i appreciate his genius. and of course, good looks. he was one of those we call, "immortal". because even after decades, it seemed that he didn't grow old. well, until now when i saw his last pictures, wherein the cancer, i guess, already shows. but nonetheless, he's still good looking than your average cancer patient.

being a Parokya Ni Edgar fan, i have learned to appreciate Francis Magalona because of his involvement in their albums, Inuman Sessions and Halina sa Parokya, thus the title of this blog entry. it was their song "Bagsakan"; a collaboration of PNE, Gloc 9 and Kiko Magalona..
So, I guess, the song would now go..

"Nandito na si chito, si chito miranda; wala na po si kiko, si francis magalona.. "
